I just saw the website and noticed that I came in 10646 place. Which means I have to run about ten minutes faster next year if I want to finish in the top 10,000 and get my name printed in the Chronicle. With more training I totally know I can make it.

My Bay to Breakers weekend

A couple months ago I signed up to do the bay to breakers race in San Francisco. I did the run last year and had a real good time. Well, the day after I signed up is when the accident at work happened so I really haven't been up to the run because I really wasn't up for it after everything. The race was last weekend and up to the end of saturday I really wasn't sure if I was still going to do it. The reasons being the high gas prices and my lack of income, etc. After talking to my sister on saturday I thought "why not" and went for it.
Now everytime I visit my sister in SF I always have trouble with the parking. Each time parking turns into a thirty minute drive around the neighborhood. Since the race runs right out front of my sisters place and the city closing down those streets, I thought it would be even more difficult. So I tried something that I have thought about for a while. I took the subway of BART to the city. There is a station in Richmond that you can park overnight that I have used before. I rode in problem free and met my sister in downtown. We had some lunch and decided to see The DaVInci Code. We went to two cinemas and all the shows were sold out. I guess despite the protesters out front people still went and saw it. So instead we just went back to her neighborhood for some drinks. We met her friend Becky and barhopped a few places which was fun. I didn't get to sleep late and I still had the race early in the morning.
I woke up at about 5:30 in order to catch the bus to the downtown starting area. If you are serious about running it and want to avoid the massive crowd this is a good idea. I got to start near the front. Last year I started further back and didn't cross the finish line until about 14 minutes after the race had started. Yesterday I crossed right at 8 o'clock. The other reason to get there so earlier is partaking in all the pre race events. That mostly consists of throwing tortilla's and beach balls up in the air. A couple of us turned that into "try and throw the tortilla's into the stop lights". We weren't having much luck, but alot of close calls.
The race started and I ran the first mile and a half. My goal was to beat my time from last year which was around 1 hour and 54 minutes. I was in much better shape last year so I didn't think that I could do it. I tried to finish the rest of the race running as much as I could but my legs weren't going along with the idea. So I battled them the last couple miles and finished at 1 hour and 42 minutes. I beat last years time by fifteen minutes! After the race ended and I stopped running my legs just quit on me. I could barely walk. I limped to the footstock festival to pick up my shirt and then over to the shuttle to the starting area. From there I took a cab back to my sisters.
I met up with John who is my sisters boyfriend and after a shower and drink, we went back downtown to go to the movies. I eventually saw The DaVinci Code and overall I thought the book was much better. Maybe it was the pain in my legs or knowing all the plot twists, but it just didn't have the whole great movie feel. It's still good, but I think they could have done it better. Afterwards we got some lunch and I headed back to the subway to get to my car to and head home. On the drive home I did something that I never done before. Probably due to not sleeping the night before and running the race in the morning, I started to feel myself going to sleep. I still had a long way to go. So I pulled over at a closed vegetable stand and took a quick 20 minute powernap. What a feeling! That gave me enough energy to get home, where I quickly went to bed.

It's hard to believe that it has been almost eight years since that July summer day. Recently I attended a banquet in the debut of this wall. It's located in the Nevada County Probation Dept. lobby, to serve has a reminder to the people who visit. In case you don't know, my grandparents are located on the top row in the middle.

This week I can honestly say has been the worst week I have ever been through. I've had my share of bad breaks in the past, but this last week certainly tops all of them. It started on monday. I arrived at work to find out that we were a couple drivers short and there would be a open recycling route. This is not unusual, as I have been through this before. It just means that I must hustle a little harder to get finished in time, so I can help cover the open route. I came upon a customer who had their stuff out on the opposite side of the road. In this situation I am supposed to not get it, but rather drive down to the end of the road, turn around and get that side. This is my usual method of operation, but that day I decided to cut my time a bit to get done that much faster. That was my big mistake.
While crossing the road to get to the customer, someone veered around my truck and into the other lane. While I was jogging across the road, I saw her at the last possible second and jumped back. She quickly slowed down and turned to the left, but there was not enough room and she struck me with her truck on my left side. At first I didn't realize what happened and continued with the emptying of the recycle container. A woman driving behind her stopped and asked if I was ok. She mentioned that she had been following that driver down the hill and noticed she was driving pretty unsafe. I said I was ok, and she continued down the road, not before giving the woman a honk. The woman who hit me stopped her car and got out to talk to me. She asked if I was fine as well and I replied yes. I honestly didn't feel anything. I asked her how her truck was and she didn't care, just if I was ok. I ran up to her truck and noticed that the right side mirror was now embedded into the door, and the windshield was cracked. This is when I realized what happened. I had been hit by a truck! Right then my whole left side started to hurt. I guess I was in a bit of shock. Trying to remember what to do, I contacted my work over the radio, telling them a quick version of what happened. They were sending some one out quick. Another motorist stopped and came up to me. I'm not sure if she saw what happened or not, but she knew I had been hit. She called 911 for a ambulance and I contacted my dispatcher telling her the new news. Everything else happened fast. My supervisors and the amblance showed up quick and I was off to the emergency room. I have never been in a ambulance before so I wasn't sure what to expect.
At the hospital I was told that I had some bruised ribs. Luckily nothing was broken. Now, because I didn't follow the rules and I crossed the street I was suspended for a few days. I needed the few days to recover anyway. I had a feeling my dicipline would get worse and it did as I was let go on friday. It wasn't much of a suprise.
So know I am forced to look for a new job. Anyone have any leads?

I'm not to sure what you're up to on this fine saturday, but I'm going to be watching the final four of the WBC. Even though the USA are out, there is still some great baseball left. I'm currently watching the Domincan Republic/Cuba game, but I can't wait for the next game of Korea/Japan. The last time those two teams it ended with Korea planting the Korean flag on the mound after there victory. How cool is that?

The news have been talking all week about how low the snow is going to get. After a nice day saturday I thought that maybe it wouldn't happen. I went to bed at midnight thinking the worse was over. In a moment of oddness yesterday, I found my myself purchasing the movie The Notebook. It was on sale and heard that it was a good watch from various people. This morning I took the time to view it. My reaction? Awesome movie. Really is well done. You can see the ending shaping up towards the middle, but don't prepare you for the curveball they throw at you. I'm totally not afraid to say that I enjoyed a "chick flick". ......ok a little, but I don't care. Go watch it seriously.

Yes, I know I haven't been posting much as of late. Lately I've been busy in the world of Azeroth. After cancelling my account a few months ago, I was talked backed into it. World of Warcraft is much more fun and enjoyable when you play with people you know.

So what did I know what would happen? It snowed quite a bit over the friday, saturday, and sunday. I knew my route was going to be in the high mountains was going to be difficult. About ten minutes into the route today I slipped on some ice and hit my tailbone pretty good. It is sore like a mother right now. I had a thought something might happen like this. The irony of it all? I slipped in a driveway of a chiropracter.

I went on a long bike ride today and noticed that my bike needed it's scheduled tune up early. It's just something that needs to be done on new bikes. I took it to the shop where I bought it to have it done free. I figured it would take a day, and I would be riding again on wednesday. They are so booked up that it won't be ready until friday night. I really wanted to spend this vacation riding. I guess I will have to hit up the gym instead...
On the plus side I bought a cyclocomputer which they're going to install for me so it save's that hassle.

Today was a real nice day today, so I decided to go exploring with my new bike. It's been quite a while since I rode alot. So I figure that most of my old riding trails are now in the middle of housing developments. I just went around the neighborhood and looked for cool trails. I ended up riding to my old place on C street. There looks to be a family moved into it. It was rather sad actually. The people still had their christmas lights up. Even had a tree out in the front yard with Xmas decorations on it. I tried to summon up enough courage to go ask if they have ever seen Parker come back, but didn't do it. Back to my ride I found a cool little trail that goes through the park down the street. My goal is to go riding through it everyday when I get a chance. Hopefully my body catches up with my minds wanting to ride more.

Ok so yesterday I decided to get something with my extra tips last holiday season. It's funny, I originally went to the bike store to pick up some parts for my old bike, but after seeing the price tag on this Rockhopper, my mind started working. After a test ride around the parking lot, I conviced myself to get it. It's something I plan on upgrading little by little by myself. As you can see it only has one pedal now, because when I was taking off the other pedal, the wrench broke. Also my hand nearly broke as well. Hopefully this catapults my bike riding time again. I just have to get a new wrench now......

I told you about my tips I've been getting lately for the holidays. The awesome hat still being the best (although it is currently missplaced). I got a load of cash as well. So today after work I went down to the local target to spend some loot. I had seen in a ad earlier that the Smallville seasons were only $24.99 each. I picked up season 3 and 4 to complete my collection for now. What suprised me is what I also bought. Something that proves for a fact that I'm no longer young. I bought a new vacumn cleaner. My old one wasn't sucking like it should, so I replaced it with a newer bagless Dirt Devil. The first thing I did when I got home was assemble it and clean my carpet. The carpet is now spotless. I really recommened it to anyone who is facing adulthood.

As I look back at 2005 I realize what a up and down year I had. I went from having my whole life planned out to doing something I never thought I could be doing. I learned about myself in the past few months. Living on my own again after a few years really put's things in perspective.
I won't bother you guys with the details, but I finally feel like I'm a good track.

Christmas time is a time for tips in my line of work. Every year around the holidays some of my customers are nice enough to leave me a tip. I really do appreciate everything that I get. If it being candy, wine, money or just a card. It makes me feel like I'm doing something good. Well today I got a lunch for somebody. I got a little hungry later so I took a peek inside to see what was in it. The lunch contained a soda, a sandwich, a plate of fudge and......a kick ass new beanie. I was fortunate enough to recieve a handmade beanie hat. It fits perfect and looks great! I just feel bad because usually when someone leave's a tip, I'll leave a thank you note. This lady usually makes me a lunch every other friday and I've already left thank you notes, so she know's I appreciate it. I will be sure to make a extra groovy thank you card for her. I'll try and post pics of the greatness that is the hat later.

Saw the movie "Walk the Line" last night with a friend. It was pretty good and deserves all the oscar buzz it is getting. I read the Johnny Cash autobiography a couple years ago so I knew the hardships that he had endured. The one complaint I have about is that the movie didn't really show his rebelious side. Go see it though.

I haven't had a weekend this busy in a long while. My friend Sarah came up and visited with her husband Scott and their son Sean. Along came old pal Jenna, and it was party galore. Friday night we went to the Holiday Cabaret and sang some karaoke. I totally made a fool of myself as usual. The owner Doug was nice enough to put some pictures of us on his website.
Saturday we went up to Reno to gamble. And by gamble I mean lose money. It was fun anyway. Sunday I ate over at a friends house for a big birthday dinner. It was like Thanksgiving early. It was quite packed with fun and laughter. I wish it could happen more often.

I just recently took my last vacation of the year last week. My third of the year. Last week was pretty uneventful. Went down to San Jose to see Modest Mouse in concert. They were alright, also learned about The LoveMakers. A great Oakland band. Then just stayed around town and watched movies. Watched the first season of Battlestar Galactica. It was good, can't wait for the second season to end so I can see those DVD's. Also saw OwlBoy. Awesome Korean movie. I highly suggest everyone check it out. If you can make it through the tooth pulling scene, you're my new hero.
So I returned to work and everything is back to normal. Can't wait for more next year.

I'm currently enjoying yet another vacation. To get out of the house today I decided to run down to Costco and pick up some supplys for the house. First when I walk thru the door, the lady at the front who looks at your card stopped me and was talking to me about how she had a difficult time yesterday using the restroom. She has multiple scerious. All I said was "How you doing?". So then I go over to see what the price of a TIVO is. I'm considering saving up a little to get one. Anyway this older gentleman comes up to me and asks me a opinion on a dvd recorder. I spend the next 15 minutes listening to his story about how he bought one and it didn't work so he brought it back....twice, or something. Seriously I was zoning out. It made me leave and go over to another place.
By the way there is Chik-fil-a opening up tomorrow in Roseville. The first 100 people get to eat free for a whole year. So I saw this enourmous line out front. I pondered about joining it, but then remembered I don't eat fast food. No matter how good it is.

All summer I have been playing on a softball team with some guys from work. Tonight was our very last game of the season. We ended up losing every game. Although we didn't win at all, it was a load of fun. Hopefully next year we can get one win.

I went to target today and totally picked up some cool stuff.
1. I wanted to get the first season of Lost. I totally loved the show since it first started. Not one of those who came on late. Like the majority. Don't believe me? Check the first few month's of my blog to see me posting about it. I had to get one from the back because they were none in front. Luckily got the last one.
2.I got the CD Absolution by Muse as well. A friend in N.H. has been listening so I thought I would give it a shot. It's pretty great. Ever just hear a song and totally think it rocks? I had that feeling when I heard Stockholm Syndrome. Awesome song.
3.Finally I got the new Koontz book Frankenstein. I really dug book one and was suprised to see the second one out. It's about the real frankenstein living in modern New Orleans fighting newer creations by his creator. Great read.

Even though I swore that I wasn't going to purchase this game because the monopolized the nfl licence, something I didn't agree with. I picked it up last weekend. Also thanks to some bargain shopping at EB games, I picked up a network adapter so I can play online. Haven't been brave enough to play people I don't know yet, but I will get there. For now I am satisfied playing my old roomate Jeff. Thanks to the GizmoProject we can talk to each other at the same time. I will over look the fact they have the exclusive licence.....for now.

While I agree that the remarks made by Larry Krueger were wrong and not needed. I think Felipe Alou has overreacted way to much. Calling Krueger a "messenger of satan", is just has bad if not worse. Just by him doing this he got some people fired at KNBR. Krueger apologized before all this hoopla had even started. Alou should just worry about taking out pitchers every other batter, than comments made by broadcasters in the heat of the moment. I lost some respect for Alou.

Haven't posting much due to not exciting things happening around here. Yesterday I went up to Lake Tahoe with some old friends of mine. Jeff, Krista and I spent the day cruising the different casinos overlooking the lake. I didn't do so bad, only lost like sixty bucks. Others didn't so well.
Hanging out in Crystal Bay Casino I had the fortune to be bumped out of the way by the surf guitar legend Dick Dale himself. Even though things quite not happened the way I wanted it to be I still had a good time.

Finally installed the new OS X Tiger on the mini mac. So far I'm pretty impressed. I really like the spotlight search. The widgets are cool as well. So far no problems. Things seem to be running real with the ram that I installed last weekend. I have turned the mini into a smokin hot machine!

Most of you know that I got a mac mini a while ago. It's pretty great but Apple has been known to be a little cheap on the memory. It only comes with 256 Megs of ram. Every review that I read say's to upgrade the ram to get a better performance. So today I set out to do this. Using this helpful guide, I did it easily today. First I went to CompUSA and bought the ram. 512 megs only cost like 65 dollars, so no problem there. Then I went next door to Home Depot and bought two putty knives. Even though I only used one, so if any one needs a putty knife I got one extra now. After purchasing all this I headed home, checked over the procedure one last time, took a big deep breath and started. Before I knew it I was done. Wow that was easy. Took like five minutes to do. I have noticed a difference in speed so far so it was all worth it.

Well that turned out longer than I expected. SBC was nice enough to change my install time into a week later. I hope that I didn't miss much. I sent a couple pictures just to let you know that I didn't forget about this thing. My week was pretty neat. I settled down into my new place, played some mini-golf, and had a unforgettable fourth. Just remember that fireworks+remote control cars = a whole lotta fun. I'm a day off at workday so I keep thinking tuesday is monday. Although I did get some good news this morning as I won a contest on this radio station. I just have to find someone to take now.

So last night Mike and I traveled to Chico to catch the new golden baseball league. They played the San Diego SurfDawgs who happen to have a young outfielder named Rickey Henderson. In case you don't know Rickey is the BEST lead off hitter of all time. Although last night he batted third in the line up. It was alot fun and if you get a chance go check out a Chico Outlaw game, I think I will see another.

My thoughts on Episode III Revenge of the Sith

Last night I nerded up and went and saw Episode III by myself. It's a long story, but lets just say Fandango tricked me. It was ALOT better than the previous prequels. The action was great (when there was action), the story was exactly what it should have been. It ties the into the original trilogys smoothly. It was rated PG-13, because it was a little more violent than Episode I and II, but I didn't think it was that bad. The hardest part watching for me was. I will add a spoiler alert here, although it is common knowledge in the Star Wars universe. Was when the Jedi were killed. It was really well done. John Williams score during these scenes was perfect. You really felt bad for their deaths. Thats all I will say, because I don't want to give to much away.
So go see it if you get a chance.

1. Running 12K (7.46m) is not as hard as you think
2. Throwing tortillas in the air before the race is fun.
3. People cheat
4. Naked guys running are gross.
5. Walking half the race is ok.
6. There is a Ted Alexander who lives in San Diego who finished 23 minutes ahead of me.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Its just I am in training. See Allison and I are going to do the Bay to Breakers in a couple weeks. Its a 12K run (7.4 miles) run from downtown to Golden Gate Park in SF. No problem right?

My friend Mike and I have recently been working on a video with his new camera. I must admit that I wasn't there for all of the filming and editing, but I think it turned out great. I went looking for a place where I could host it for free, and I found one last night. ourmedia.org is a site that I came upon which looks very promising. Hopefully we can get some feedback on how it turned out. It is our first attempt and had a lot of fun making it, so I am sure that there will be some more to follow, including a talk show. Its been three weeks now.

Well it has been three weeks since Parker went missing. I put up flyers around the neighborhood, but haven't gotten any calls. I have been checking the animal shelters recently as well.
The other day my neighbor stopped me to let me know that she saw some "big cat paw prints" down by our creek. I would think that he can take a mountain lion in a one on one fight though. Maybe the mountain lion had back up? I have noticed other cats are missing around the area as well since then, so it is possible. I haven't given up hope that he will show up one day yet. Too many people tell me story's of their cats taking off for a few weeks at a time and return.

Besides I could have sworn I saw him darting across the road on my way to work a couple weeks ago.

Today I woke up with a big head cold, but I braved through the day. I felt like crap when I got home. I didn't know that my day was going to get worse.I go check out fark.com and there is a headline that Mitch Hedberg died of a heart attack. Mitch is my all time favorite comedian. No one cracked me up like he did. I can only hope that this is a cruel, cruel April Fools joke. RIP Mitch

I was a fan of the old Screensavers on TechTV. TechTV got sold to G4 a video game channel. Slowly The ScreenSavers started to change and a lot of people started to complain. People in the forums were outraged when they changed the name to Attack of the Show. Well I for one think that the show is hilarious. Thanks for the change guys.

Last week I ventured down to the apple store and purchased the mini mac. I am really impressed with it so far. My first real computer was a iMac about five years ago. I bought into all the hoopla about how PC's are better and such and broke down and bought a HP PC. I used that for a LONG time. It was alright at first, but as the years went on, it became sluggish and bothersome. Compared to the PC's that cost about the same as mine new at the time I bought it, it was a joke. So when I heard Steve Jobs mention the mini mac in is Keynote address at MacWorld I knew I would return. I forgot how much fun computing is. I should have stayed with the Macintosh world all the time. I was even inspired to see if the local Best Buy carried the the iPod shuffle, which they did and purchased. It's not the super 20 gig iPod the I want, but it is perfect for right now.

Well I finally got a new computer. I raced down to the apple store in Sac and purchased the new mac mini. It is way faster and smoother than my tired old HP pavilion. I had that thing for a few years and it was time to upgrade. I highly recommened one if you feel you need to come over to the "light" side of the force.

It really is hard to come up with interesting things to talk about here. I have been busy with work and new years resolutions to visit here though. I just wanted to remind everyone to start watching lost if you haven't already. You are missing out on the best show on television. I will make posting here more often a priority and really attempt to do more.

Last night Allison and I braved and ventured down to Roseville to finish up our shopping. The malls were not all that crowded. It was actually not that bad. The highlight of course was seeing Brad Miller at Best Buy. Nice reward.

Post election thoughts

Well the election has been over for a few days and I can now let it sink in. I really feel let down by the youth of America. For months we watched thousands of commercials telling us to go register. We watched great artists like Dave Matthews, Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen volunteer their time to put on concerts to get the word out. Yeah all the youth registered, its just that they didn't get out and vote. How disappointing. In a way I am proud of almost turning thirty and getting out of that 18-30 range that didn't show up on the second. We are stuck with another four years of a horrible president. How many more innocent American soldiers and Iraqi citizens are going to be killed in the next four years? How many more country's are we going to "liberate"? How many more trillions are we going to debt? I have a feeling much much more. I have a friend Eric who is currently serving in the navy. Recently he got a opinion up in the local paper. You can see and read it here. I think he couldn't say it better.

A whole week of silence! So whats new? I have been playing around with a few different phones lately. First I got a T-moble phone, but that one didn't get great service. So then I shopped locally and picked up a Verizon phone. That phone is a camera phone which means that I will be updating my moblog more frequently. I think it is cool.
I also played in my first poker tournament down at the local card room. I didn't do to bad, as I made the final two tables. I learned a lot though so next time I will do a lot better. And oh yeah about my fantasy football teams.....don't ask.

Catching up on some DVD's

When I first moved into the new place here, my DVD player broke. Well thanks to Best Buy and their awesome warranty's, it got fixed. Just in time for me to catch up. I have been watching the third season of Alias. I missed the third season on television, but that's what the discs are for. The Star Wars trilogy just came out. It is interesting to view those one again. Speaking of Alias, did anyone see LOST? I'm not sure what to think about it. Hopefully it gets rolling a little bit. I am not so sure how you can make a series about a bunch of people crashing on a island, but then how do you explain Gilligans Island?
